Memorable Moments in May

Surviving the experience as "the lone cellist" at orchestra the night when the other cellists were both absent

A compliment that same night on my playing from first violinist R

Maestro instructing me to "die faster" on the final note of Venturing Through the House, one of the original horror movie pieces we'll be recording (more info on that to follow in a future blog entry)

The pick-up for my tuner allowing me to tune at orchestra without interference, even while "Yoda" is warming up on his oboe

Bumping into fellow cellist A at the diner one Saturday night after a local concert

Feeling good about taking a much-needed break from my cello lesson this week

I'm so proud of you holding your own, as the lone cellist! And it sounds like you did a good job of it, too!

Congratulations on playing well, and on your own at your concert! I'm sure it was stressful, but you must feel so good to have pulled it off.

Maricello,
Fortunately it was only a rehearsal where I was "lone cellist." But it still counted as a "memorable moment" since it was a first. Actually, this year is my first time ever being in an orchestra.

Donna, you left a comment on my blog quite a few months ago (about half a year actually) ... I was locked out of my blog for a while, and just got the comment now...

Anyways, I'm taking a bit of a break from classical music right now (well not entirely), but the last things I was working on were:

Dotzeaur Etudes
Bach Suite 2 (memorizing it)
Cellist of Sarajevo by David Wilde
Beethoven A Major 1st mvmt.

possibly other stuff, but those were the main ones that come to mind...

anyway, hope stuff is going well for you, feel free to check out my blog at any pt. and thank you for the warm welcome...

-Mike

That must have been really scary. What am I saying? It is really scary. I played a major concert by myself once. I got complimented on my vibrato... Which was funny because I couldn't vib. yet. It was the nervous shaking! Haha!

Oh and I envy you! My tuner pick-up sucks. It only makes it harder to tune. Thankfully, my a peg won't move so its never out of tune. ;)
